We were in the position where we had to sell our house during a really down market. The trade program enabled us to sell it faster which ultimately allowed us to move on in our life faster. We were a part of a reverse trade where we had to buy the buyer’s house in order to sell ours. Although its not ideal to have to buy a house to sell a house, it was appealing because their house was in a more marketable price range. We thought it was a really creative idea, and we’d much rather work with a creative, out-of-the-box thinker than any other realtor. We only had to own their house for about a month before Shawn was able to sell it. We knew he’d do everything he could to move it quickly, and he did. The closing of both houses was very smooth. Although we lost money on our house, everyone does in a down market like we’re in, and it was no fault of Shawn’s. Shawn was very professional and realistic about the market. The trade program minimized our loss by helping to move our house off the market faster. Without his creative trade program, who knows how much longer it would have been on the market.

“Your team was great. Deb Elias was awesome. Abbe in closing was very helpful. Marketing was as promised. We took a bit of a beating on the sale price of the house but that was largely due to current market conditions and no fault of yours. One suggestion that would help ease the pain of sellers who are forced to drastically reduce the price of their home would be for you to express a little sympathy so they think you can relate to their pain. I realize that you deal in volume and each individual transaction is only a small part of your overall business but a $10,000-$20,000 price reduction is $10,000-$20,000 directly out of the buyers pocket even though it\’s only $700-$1400 out of your commission. Your team may generate $3 million in sales each month but it\’s the only house I\’m selling for a few years so it\’s a big deal to me. The buyer has a bruised ego during this time and a little expression of understanding by the agent might help ease the sting a bit. We received lots of positive showing comments from Renate but only negative feedback from Shawn which we felt was designed to elicit a price reduction. Mixing positive feedback with negative comments would be create the best experience possible during a bad market situation. Thanks for listening.”

Selling a house can be tough. It is especially difficult in a market like the one we are facing now. My husband, Paul and I set out to sell our house  last  summer and move into our dream home. Unfortunately, our dream seemed more and more unattainable as the market softened and our house wasn’t selling. At about the time we gave up, we found a house that Shawn Buryska had listed. In a short time, we had negotiated with the sellers to buy our house if we purchased theirs. I have heard about house trading before, but never thought it would work out for us. In less than a month after we put in our bid, we moved into our new house. Our house trade was simple to execute and made our dreams a reality.
